Intel Art of AI // Microsoft Ignite
For Microsoft Ignite 2023, I worked with the creative teams at PHNTM and SOUNDS⁕ℲUN as well as talented AI artists Si Parmeggiani and Alexander Reben, OpenAI’s first artist in residence and digital media artist Mattaniah Aytenfsu to create three interactive exhibits.
Pixel-O-Matic is an interactive exhibit featuring a fun, custom designed gui and media effects. I worked with prompt artist Si Parmeggiani to integrate this control surface with his prompts. For each of all possible combos of input parameters, there was a custom payoff sequence which displayed on all 5 monitors as well as a custom prompt construction, resulting in custom unique AI art creations people could download to their phones via a dynamically created QR code. I used a script to automate the After Effects files to create the animations for all possible combinations of input options.
Alex Reben's piece generated real-time haikus from visitors' spoken prompts using a microphone and custom ChatGPT model. Guests watched haikus write themselves on a Vestaboard display. I integrated a microcontroller, microphone, and buttons along with an internet connected PC and four Vestaboards. Through interacting with the buttons and microphones, guests could say short phrases, which were converted into text using Whisper, and sent to a custom GPT Alex Reben had fine tuned to create short haikus, which displayed on the vestaboards shortly after prompting.
I also acted as on site integrator to connect an exhibit created by Mattaniah Aytenfsu to seven monitors and a realsense camera, which was calibrated to the room. In all there were 20 total display surfaces which acted togather to create a single integrated media system. The exhibit was split across three PCs.
